Pelicans Masters edged defending champions Barbican 1-0 to win the 2007 NCB Capital Markets Masters League Mid Season Final and the Peter Cargill Cup on Sunday at Barbican Oval. The League's leading goal scorer, Rohan Rousseau, scored the game winner in the 62nd minute to raise his season tally to 13.
Pelicans dominated the game from onset with their efficient passing game, but were efficiently contained by the Barbican defense led by Stafford Fong. Barbican's attack, spearheaded by Denton Shedden and Mikel Dillion, got their share of scoring chances, but good consistent defensive work by Pelicans' defense, marshaled by Andrew "Bowa" Hines, allowed their goaltender, Derrick Grant, to keep a clean sheet.

In the second half, both teams increased the pace and created a few chances but failed to score. In the 62nd minute, Rousseau, who had a great game, slipped his marker, got behind the Barbican defense to calmly slot home for the game winner. Barbican pressed relentlessly, and Striker, Wayne Wonder, came close to scoring at the death, but Pelicans held on to gain their first lein on the NCBCM Peter Cargill Cup.
Mrs. Avril Cargill , the wife of the late national coach and national player, Peter Cargill, his daughter, Danique, and Son, David, were all on hand to present the coveted prize to the winning captain, Pete Smith. Coach Cargill also played for Pelicans in the masters league.
