With the highly successful and competitive 2007 NCB Capital Markets Masters Football League generating so much excitement and interest among the players and fans, many are looking forward to the 2008 season, and it may now be timely to take the next step in the evolution of the Kingston and St. Andrew Masters Football League Association (KSAMLA). I propose that the next step be the inauguration of the KSAMLA Football Association Cup (KSAML FA Cup) to kick off the 2008 season.

The KSAMAL FA Cup would be a Knock-Out (KO) competition similar to the FA Cup in England. Of course, for budget purposes, it could take the form of a single game KO instead of a home and away event.

The format would see the top six (6) teams in the 2007 NCBCM Masters League overall standings being seeded to the Round of 16, and the other twenty (20) teams entering a single game preliminary round KO with the ten (10) winners joining the six (6) seeded teams in the Round of 16.

Under the proposed format, the FA Cup would see a total of  twenty-six (26) games; thirteen (13) double-headers, including the FA Cup Championship Final and a third place game. The approximate budget for the 2008 KSAMLA FA Cup is $150,000 inclusive of Referees' fee, field rental, and Match Inspectors' fee.  A entry fee of $5,000 per affiliate would easily make the FA Cup almost self sufficient. Of course, obtaining a sponsor for the event is the ideal.

The KSAMAL FA Cup could run concurrently with an early start date in March of the 2008 NCBCM Masters League, with certain days being designated as FA Cup dates.  - Proposed by Bertram Scott, PRO

The Hall of Fame induction proceedings were followed by an exciting Hall of Fame game between the NCB Capital Markets All Masters and the Central Masters All Stars which ended in a 1-1 draw. The NCBCM All Masters had the better of play throughout the game and deservedly took an early lead in the 24th minute on a fine goal by skipper Mark Miller. However, despite dominating with superior possession, the All Masters failed to put the game away by converting their easy chances, and the visitors scored a well earned late equalizer in the 58th minute from the boots of Winston Silvera.

Avril Cargill, the widow of Coach Cargill, and his son, David and daughter, Danique, were on hand to receive the posthumous KSAMLA Hall of Fame Citation on behalf of Peter Cargill.

The Kingston and St. Andrew Masters Football League Association (KSAMLA) wishes to express its deepest sympathy and condolence to the family of former national U-17 coach David Hunt for his untimely death. Coach Hunt was a very, very special football talent who made a huge contribution to the development of football in Jamaica.
